Dear Parents, Guardians, Child Care Operators and Community Members,
The Franklin County Community Early Childhood Council is a vehicle for bringing together many community members to support issues of importance to children and families. Our mission is to support and strengthen the community by providing information to families, promoting quality in all early childhood programs, and to offer quality training to the early childhood stakeholders in collaboration with other agencies in Franklin County.
This council involves members who represent a cross-section of the community and who can foster efforts to improve outcomes for young children and families. Membership includes the Franklin County Health Department, Blue Grass Head Start, Franklin County Schools, Frankfort Independent Schools, Family Resource Centers, Community Based Services, Parents, Blue Grass Community Action, FIRST Steps, Comprehensive Care, IMPACT, Paul Sawyier Library, local daycares, YMCA, Quality Enhancement Initiative Staff, Good Shepherd School, Child Care Aware, CoventryCares of Kentucky, Kiwanis of Frankfort, Franklin County Cooperative Extension and Kentucky State University. All interested community members are encouraged to contribute their ideas and expertise to the council.
Below are some strategies and activities that we have used to improve early childhood and school-readiness in Franklin County:
